Thanksgiving Table 2018

With my family we are celebrating Thanksgiving early because we have lots of family coming in town. It is always so much fun to celebrate the holiday with a big group, but it can be stressful to set a pretty table if you don't have enough china or pottery (and if you want to avoid dishes!). I helped my mom with some of the table place settings for our family dinner this weekend, and snapped pictures of the fun products in the shop before taking over to her house.

If you are wanting to use your pretty dishes for the big dinner, the kids' table is a great place to use paper - you can make it fun and festive, and not worry about something getting broken. We have little kids, that would be too young to handle my mom's gorgeous dishes. Plus, on the kids' table you can add fun things like the turkey crackers and pilgrim hat place cards! Crackers are a really fun "prize" they get to open - you pull each side and they pop open. These particular ones have a trinket toy, joke and a paper hat. We also have some pretty metallic ones that can be used at the adult table with wine charms inside. Place cards are a nice touch, especially if you want put certain people near or far from each other - got to love the holiday family dynamics! A talented lady close by the shop actually reached out and offered her calligraphy services for last minute place card writing if you want them to look beautiful. Come by or call the shop this week, and we can help you get the order placed.

My little turkey, practiced Thanksgiving during my quick photo shoot today - she loved the crackers and also loved not giving me a smile when I asked haha.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Definitely stop in the shop to snag some pretty paper goods for your dinner or dessert. If you aren't local and need to order online, get your order in asap! We will make sure to ship out quickly.

Shop this post: Dark Teal Octagon Plates | Gold Circle Plates | Gold Dot Guest Towels | Gold Hammered Forks | Turkey Crackers | Pilgrim Hat Place Cards | Turkey Place Cards

So very thankful for all of you!

Simple Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving dinner calls for festive table settings! Keep it simple by using pretty paper goods. We played with some of the fun items my mother snagged for her kids' table at our family dinner to show you some fun ideas!

Our fall floral plates mixed with the gold foil pine napkins make such a gorgeous combination. Top them off with festive crackers and place cards, and you have a great Thanksgiving setup! We laid one of our gold foil runners underneath - love the kraft paper for a fall look, but the white would be gorgeous too! We kept it simple with a greenish-grey pumpkin as the centerpiece, but you can definitely get creative with this: pumpkins, flowers, turkey, crafts and more.

Need a fun, affordable hostess gift? These Sugarfina pumpkin pie caramels fit the bill! Also, an adorable party favor if you want something fun on your place settings for guests.

Stop in this week and next Tuesday-Wednesday to pickup supplies for your Thanksgiving! We hope you have a fun one and enjoy the day.

Thanksgiving Day Table 2014!

I don't know about all of you, but I am excited to spend the day with my family tomorrow and enjoy the nice break! Tonight, I headed over to my mom's to start the holiday early and we got her table all decorated for tomorrow. I wanted to share it with you before feasting time in case you want to get out there and find some leaves to paint!Okay, I know I'm not giving you much time, but maybe you have some gold paint lying around...

If you love the place settings those can all be found at The Plaid Giraffe - you wouldn't expect anything else in Nancy's casa! I am in love with her Annie Glass plates on top of the MacKenzie Child's black and white chargers. I also love her ceramic MacKenzie Child's napkin rings - jealous of those! The pewter pieces, tray and goblets are Juliska and go with my mom's everday dishes. The centerpiece is comprised of a fun metal basket from the Plaid and my mom had some greens arranged in it. Then today she picked up some flowers from the floral department at the Plaid and I did some fun arranging. The velvet pumpkin and little nest (with velvet mushrooms and acorn) is also a new item at the Plaid and they are really a great way to incorporate fall into your decor. The pumpkins come in lots of different colors.

Now to the DIY aspect of the table, the golden leaves and acorns. In my Thanksgiving Prep post, I had pinned a fun idea of painted leaves for the place cards at the table. My didn't turn out as fancy, but I still love the pop of gold they add to the place settings. Dustin found leaves and acorns out in our front yard (he must really love me). Then I used my favorite craft staple, liquid gold leaf paint, to paint them. I tried using a Sharpie, but it didn't flow smoothly, so I decided to paint on the names with black acrylic paint. Like I said earlier, if you have some paint laying around, go pick some leaves!

Overall, I love the table my mom and I put together. It helps when she has great pieces to work with, but I think if you find ways to incorporate your own character to your turkey day table, then you will be successful! Flowers always add a nice pop of color and there should be a grocery store near you open tomorrow morning if you still need to get some.

Happy Thanksgiving!! Thankful to have you all in my life!

Thanksgiving Prep

Sitting on the couch, drinking some wine and trying to decide how I want to help my mom decorate for Thanksgiving. Here are some of my favorite ideas to help inspire you as well (probably beneficial to your thought process if you also drink some wine!):

Gold Leaf Place Cards

Mini Pumpkin Pies

Floral Napkin Rings
Gold Leafed Pumpkin
If you want to show up with a gag gift to your Thanksgiving, this is perfect:
Inflatable Turkey
Thanksgiving is a great time to try out fun table settings! Last year we had Thanksgiving at my grandma's house, this year we are trying out my mother's new dining room set. I always love Thanksgiving and can't wait to share this year's table setting with you next week!

Thanksgiving Day Table

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day with family or friends. If you are too far away, get on Skype and have some good face time! I spent the morning setting up our Thanksgiving day table with my mom. We had so much fun!

For the napkins, I had seen a cute idea to use rosemary instead of a napkin ring:

Flowers, we found some great options at the grocery store: Leucadendrum Safary Sunset, Hypericum, Classic Greens & Mat Sumoto

For the smaller vases, I thought that kale would be a fun pop of color (cheap option with a lot of impact):

I decided to use my chalkboard table runner again because I wanted to play with place settings:

Here is the table all together:

Decided to bring over my fabulous new Juliska pottery from our Plaid Giraffe wedding registry. It is great for a Thanksgiving look:

To add a fall touch, I spray painted the little pumpkins I had left from Halloween. I taped the bottoms of them off and sprayed the tops with gold. That way you still see the orange:

The tastiest decoration, my grandma's homemade chocolate pie:

Hopefully you saw some ideas to add some character to your table! So thankful for all my readers, Happy Thanksgiving!
