Book Themed Wedding Welcome Box + Rehearsal Dinner

This past weekend my cousin David married a beautiful princess (at least that's what the kids referred to her as) named Maura. It was a dreamy wedding and my Aunt Mary wanted to make sure she went over the top for her son's special weekend. She offered to do their wedding welcome boxes (it's kind of a specialty of ours!) and with my Uncle Dan, hosted the rehearsal dinner. She did not disappoint.

As guests settled into their hotel rooms, a little pink box embellished with a gold foil heart arrived. The box was filled with thoughtfully curated and crafted items that gave a sneak peek to the upcoming wedding. My Aunt Mary seriously out did herself on these beauties. There were fancy candies, a wedding timeline, water, paper book container filled with chocolates and even cookies that looked like the bride and groom - such a cute and funny touch!

Friday evening, the families and wedding party headed over to the Minnesota Club for a gorgeous rehearsal dinner. My Aunt Mary and Uncle Dan do rehearsal dinners like most people do weddings. With our large families, banquet hall situations are usually our only option. This one was gorgeous and full of character, which isn't always easy to come by.

For the tables, my mom and aunt sourced gold charges to put under the plates for a glamorous touch. Then we placed legal pads that held the dinner menu on every place setting. Made for the perfect pop of color. For the centerpieces, we stacked old books and journals made by my aunt. They were topped off with paper fruit baskets she covered with an adorable quote print that contained a potted plant. The gold votives next to the centerpieces added an elegant touch. The tables looked perfect. In the masculine bar area, we kept things simple and set some of the remaining paper book containers on the tables.

It was such a great weekend with family celebrating the newlyweds! The Lacy Family weddings are always the best and we definitely danced the night away. I loved helping my Aunt Mary setup everything and was happy with the results. It was so fun adding touches of Love of Character to their events. I think all the guests loved them too! Especially those David and Maura cookies...

Soft Shop Opening

This past weekend has been the start to a very good dream come true! We managed to pull the shop together last week and it is everything I imagined and so much more. I literally just stare in shock and awe that this space is my shop, a childhood dream come true. It has been a lot of work with help from our friends and family, but it turned out so well. I keep looking at it thinking I will have to clean everything up tonight and move it back home like a pop up shop. It is such an amazing feeling knowing that we are here to stay and share all of these fun things with Wichita.

A friend of mine wanted to test out a new jewelry line in Wichita, so we set the date and I decided to followup the event with a soft opening. It was good to have a deadline to push Dustin and I to finish things up. The small event was the perfect start! I was so excited to share everything we had been working on and people seemed to be having fun shopping. Plus, my incredibly talented friend, Ali Moore, came and took pictures of the evening. These pictures brought tears of joy to my eyes because she did such a beautiful job capturing the space and products.

The layout has changed a little and we now have two large IKEA shelves that split up the entertaining and retail spaces.
Saturday was the start of our soft opening weekend. The support and love from friends, family and locals was incredible! I was able to test out our square register, the layout and merchandise before our big grand opening in a couple weeks. My mom, Aunt Mary and I worked very hard to pick out fun, unique and beautiful items to fill these tables and it was so exciting to see my customers love them!

The day flew by and I was a busy bee chatting with customers and selling fun merchandise! By 6 o'clock, I was overjoyed and ready to celebrate a successful day. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend came down to help with the opening, so we had a lot of fun raising glasses to a successful weekend. Sunday was a little slower with Father's Day, but I had some fun favorites pop in to say hi! Overall, it was a very successful weekend and a great way to start this new adventure.

Thank you again to everyone that stopped by or sent love my way this weekend. I would not be on this adventure without your continued support. Thank you to our families for all of their help physically with the space and mentally with the advice, cheering and love. Lastly, and most importantly, thank you x a million to my amazingly supportive husband. He poured in so much work into making this dream a reality for me. He stained the floors, helped paint, moved over products and so much more. I loved working on this project with him and even though we gave up a lot (A LOT) of sleep, I'm so happy with how it turned out.
