Garden Rose Party Table

Happy May Day! Figured the best way I could get you some flowers was to share the pretty pictures I took of my Easter table settings and share that we have something fun coming soon. That's right - something fabulous is headed your way from us and we are so excited to start sharing little bits about it! When it comes to party planning and setting a great table do you need help? We are working on a new website feature called Set the Party that will make it fun and easy. Now let's share some more pictures of this beautiful Rifle Paper and floral table to get your creative juices flowing for upcoming events like Mother's Day and bridal showers...

When I volunteered to host Easter brunch for both of our families (yes, you read that right, I threw myself out there because I'm crazy and needed a reason to get my house in order), I decided it would be a great opportunity to set a gorgeous table. That's my specialty when hosting because cooking isn't one of my strengths or passions. I like to distract my guests with beautiful tableware! Lucky for me, my husband, mother-in-law and grandma pulled through on making brunch. They did a wonderful job.

For the table settings, I decided to mix and match with the new Rifle Paper Co. party collection and some other florals and metallics we have. Mixing and matching is my favorite way to create unique place settings and our new website feature will be helpful for planning out fun ways to do just that. The moment I saw the new watercolor die cut flower plates, I knew they'd be a beautiful combo with the Rifle Paper designs. Plus it breaks up the busy patterns. Down the middle of the table, I used the new garden party table runner, which is an easy statement piece. Fresh flowers complimented the party supplies. On the back of the chairs, I hung one of our new paper flower garlands. On the table, I also worked in the adorable new Rifle Paper Corkcicle stemless wine tumblers - how fun would these be on the table for the moms at your Mother's Day party?

My extremely talented cupcake baker, September Moon Cupcakery, brought my sugar Rifle Paper dreams to life with these amazing cupcakes. I sent her a picture of the gorgeous table Anna Bond set and she made me my own flower creations! Can't recommend Cara enough for your next party. They were the perfect centerpiece to this garden party table.

After having fun at the shop playing with the table settings, I took the supplies home and set my family brunch table. I mixed in some of my own pieces (chargers, serving dishes and goblets) for an extra touch, plus I love my china. I didn't want to use it for everything because I would probably still be trying to do all the dishes, but it was fun to use the chargers that go under the used plates.

Are you hosting everyone for a Mother's Day brunch or dinner? I think these products would be dreamy for that. It's colorful, springy and a touch whimsical. I'll link all the products below, so you can shop.

Stay tuned and make sure to follow our new Instagram account for the new website feature: Set the Party. We will be posting fun sneak peeks, details, asking for input and sharing the launch oh so soon! Our excitement is brewing to finally share it with you after working on it for a while.

Grandma's 90th Birthday - Mother's Day Idea

I stumbled upon the pictures from my grandmother's 90th birthday in December, and realized I never shared them. Mother's Day is coming up, and I thought this little table setup could inspire you to throw a beautiful brunch or dinner for a mother figure in your life (or send this to your significant other, so they can throw one for YOU!).

My grandma is an incredible woman and was beyond deserving of a wonderful 90th birthday celebration. When my cousin came to visit from Minnesota, we decided to have a little girls' dinner. We wanted to make it special, and add personal touches. We chose a local restaurant, Newport Grill, to host the occasion. They were great and let me come early to setup. Highly recommend for a special occasion dinner.

On the table, I wanted to use an idea I found on Pinterest a long time ago. For each place setting, I added a small floral arrangement with a photo of the guest with the birthday girl. I snuck down to my grandma's basement while she was distracted with the baby to find old pictures. That woman did not like to be in photographs! Hopefully your guest of honor let people take her picture with people she loves. Luckily, she did have old photos as a young girl in her 20s, so I got a fab picture for her spot!  The flowers were done by The Plaid Giraffe. They did such a wonderful job! I used floral card sticks to add the pictures to them. It was fun for the table to have pictures to look at. Definitely brings a personal element! Around the flowers, I sprinkled some rose gold confetti because it was a birthday, and birthdays call for pretty confetti.

For the queen baker of the family, it's hard to find a worthy dessert. When I saw Milkfloat's pink peppermint pie on social media, I knew it would be perfect - pink and peppermint! She loves peppermint ice cream at Christmas time. It was delicious and it's always fun supporting local!

It was such a fun evening and my beautiful grandma had a wonderful time! For Mother's Day, mini spring flower arrangements would be gorgeous. If you area able to find old photos, those can be the most fun for conversation starters! Make sure to stop by the shop or head to our website to pick out cards, gifts, and party supplies for the special day.

Simple Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving dinner calls for festive table settings! Keep it simple by using pretty paper goods. We played with some of the fun items my mother snagged for her kids' table at our family dinner to show you some fun ideas!

Our fall floral plates mixed with the gold foil pine napkins make such a gorgeous combination. Top them off with festive crackers and place cards, and you have a great Thanksgiving setup! We laid one of our gold foil runners underneath - love the kraft paper for a fall look, but the white would be gorgeous too! We kept it simple with a greenish-grey pumpkin as the centerpiece, but you can definitely get creative with this: pumpkins, flowers, turkey, crafts and more.

Need a fun, affordable hostess gift? These Sugarfina pumpkin pie caramels fit the bill! Also, an adorable party favor if you want something fun on your place settings for guests.

Stop in this week and next Tuesday-Wednesday to pickup supplies for your Thanksgiving! We hope you have a fun one and enjoy the day.

Color Me Happy - WAM Fundraiser Party

When the Wichita Art Museum (WAM) reached out about doing a children's party for their party collection fundraiser, I knew we could come up with something fun. I had recently purchased Darcy Miller's Celebrate Everything book at that time and it ended up having the perfect inspiration - a color party! I started pulling together ideas and decided to go with "Color Me Happy" as the event title. I wanted it to be bright, happy and full of color. It was time to start brainstorming activites, food and party supplies to pull it all together.

My first bright idea for the event after coming up with the theme, was to involve my talented friend, Sally Cavanaugh. She is a local photographer and we always have so much fun working together. I knew she would help make it great! With her help, we added photo mini sessions to the event for the children attending. We wanted to make sure we had a great backdrop for the photos. We took inspiration from a party Sally's friend threw and one of my favorite blogs, Oh Happy Day. We decided to cover the white wall in our space with balloons of all shapes, sizes and colors. Oh Happy Day has a great DIY. It's a fun backdrop for parties and you can do it in so many different ways.

We also had some fun with balloons bringing the WAM's famous Chihuly glass masterpiece to our small space. Since it was a fundraiser for WAM, I wanted to incorporate it into the event. We mixed different sizes of regular latex balloons. We then added long latex balloons that we curled to give the Chihuly impact. We followed The House that Lars Built tutorial on "How to Curl a Balloon." Worked well! It became a great centerpiece for the event that screamed color and WAM.

For the party supplies and table setting, I wanted to give a rainbow effect by color blocking. We decided to focus on six colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Meri Meri, one of our favorite party supply vendors, sent us plates and napkins that worked with our color scheme. We laid them out across the large white table and it was just the impact we wanted! Next to the place settings, I added a mini water bottled with a simple color label. In the center of the table, I purchased flowers in the six colors and color blocked them across four vases. To keep the impact, we made sure to keep our colors in the specific order with all of our color blocking.

For food, we decided to serve sweets and snacks. The gorgeous cupcakes were made by a local favorite, Hannah Marko with HB Cakes. She followed the color scheme and I love how she played with the different frosting styles. They were a perfect addition across our table. For the snacks, we used clear plastic cups to show the color blocking:
Red - Strawberries
Orange - Goldfish Crackers
Yellow - Pineapple
Green - Grapes
Blue - Blueberries
Purple - Grapes

Outside of the photo mini sessions with Sally, we needed other activities to keep the kids busy during the event. Keeping with the color theme, we created a coloring station and candy/cereal necklace making station. They were perfect color party activities because we could color block the supplies and it added to the decor. It took a little effort to sort out the crayons, cereal and candy, but the impact was great. For our other activity, we worked with another local favorite, Wendi with Sweet Sugarlicious.  I wanted kids to be able to make their own little cookie art pieces and Wendi was able to bring it to life with Paint Your Own (PYO) cookies. Using a cookie icing pallet, they were able to dip their brush in water and paint on the cookie canvas. They had a great time and it was fun seeing their cookies come to life!

Thank you to everyone that attended our fun, colorful event! We had so much fun bringing this party to life and your excitement made it all worth it. Also, thank you so much to my team for helping blow up lots of balloons and putting it all together. Thank you to Sally for helping put together the balloon wall and capturing the event so well. I should also give a special shout out to my husband that hung our balloon Chihuly and my mother that came to help finish setup.
