Mini Spa Day

Our annual Valentine party with Sally Cavanaugh had a little twist this year - spa day! Instead of the usual aprons, she found adorable Matilda Jane robes and we ran with the fun theme. We decided the best way to do the party this year, was multiple micro sized groups. It ended up being such a fun morning for all the littles, being pampered and all! Sally captured the event beautifully in these pictures.

The setup was inspired by some cute eye mask napkins one of our brands carries - perfect for a kid or adult spa day! We added some cute heart confetti to tie in Valentines. Cookies by Sweet Sugarlicious added to the spa theme - they were perfect! The backdrop, we made a large eye mask from balloons to match the napkins. The cute A frame tent is Elizabeth's I brought from home, love a tent setup for a girls' day. Babe Cave pillow is hers, and we have carried in the shop before, trying to get more.

Activities for the micro parties included Valentine making and nail painting. Piggy Paint is a kid friendly nail polish brand we started carrying in the shop, and I was excited to use it at the event. They made for a great activity and party favor. I pulled sets that come with nail stickers, so then they were able to add some fun flair to their fancy fingers.

After hosting these events, we started brainstorming on how to work back in event rentals at the shop. Safety and easing back into it were the main goals, and these micro spa events were such a success, we decided that would be our start! Our event documents are in final edits and we will be sharing more this week. We will be renting out our 3202 space for the next couple months to host micro parties for 6 children and we will take care of everything for you! We will also offer a micro shower option, perfect for a small group of friends and/or digital showers. Make sure you are following us on social media for updates and we will be updating our event page with new event documents soon!

Cookies & Valentines

When we wanted to throw together a cute shoot for Valentines, I reached out to our friend Hungry Bunny to collaborate! She has been working on her tasty love bites for the holiday. Since we are still in the midst of the pandemic, we weren't able to do a big one with multiple children, but our balloon coordinator's adorable daughter jumped in some pics for us!

Give us all the pastels for this year and we are loving everything hearts, including the table confetti! These heart plates and napkins come in multi-color packs and are adorable on the mixed on the table. The heart suitcases work as a centerpiece, gift holder and Valentine keepsake boxes. Our event coordinator, Emily, set the table and her idea to use the retro basket as a floral centerpiece was so fun! Who wouldn't love to receive a basket of flowers! The heart sunglasses and glitter lip glosses make for perfect party favors and gift items.

Hungry Bunny played with our conversation heart theme and added her signature glitter touch! Plus that giant cookie cake looks delicious - someone send me one to eat by myself lol. Follow her website and on social media for Valentine ordering details. Support local and send some goodness to friends. Just add glitter (best kind is the edible kind!).

Galentines Play Date

Yesterday we turned Elizabeth's play date into a mini Valentine's photo shoot, and it was such a fun time! Wendi, owner and mastermind behind Sweet Sugarlicious, wanted pictures of the adorable cookies she's using for an upcoming workshop. We used her designs as the inspiration and set a table full of color. Shout out to Elizabeth's friends (and of course their mamas!) for playing along and being apart of this fun afternoon at the last minute. One of the mom's, Brooke, took the gorgeous pictures. She has an amazing fashion and lifestyle blog, The Broke Brooke, that you need to go check out stat!

We have so many great Valentine party supplies this year and these doodle hearts are such a fun, versatile option. I immediately thought of them when Wendi sent over her cookie designs. We layered the small heart plates on top of large pink plates and mixed them with fringe and heart napkins. A pink striped table runner added color to the table and we added some festive confetti on top. These festive sweet talker cups were the perfect party favors for the girls. It just so happened that both of her friends were celebrating their birthdays! Needed to have something fun to take home.

These little ladies were so cute together and when we got them to "cheers" they were having too much fun. Let's just say, if you give party girls cookies, they will smile and pose away - with a cookie in hand of course!

We would love to be apart of your Valentine events/parties! We have so many fun products and accessories to make it a special occasion for you. I highly recommend getting a group of littles together and letting them have a cookie party - just be ready for the post sugar high - ha! Stop in or shop online party supplies, gifts, cards and more. If you want to add balloons to your event (like the giant wink balloon in this shoot) or send balloons to a loved one, email balloons@loveofcharacter.com to get on our calendar before it fills up!

Valentine Cupcake Party with Matilda Jane

We teamed up with Sally Cavanaugh, Wichita Matilda Jane truck keeper, again this year to put together an adorable Valentine party. Last year our little party guests decorated cookies, and this year we decided to decorate cupcakes. Each party guest received a cute MJ apron to wear during the party, and to take home as a party favor. Love a good party favor!

We went all out pink with the event and used the adorable door wrapping sheets as inspiration. The door pattern reminded me of the song from Frozen, “Love is an Open Door.” Seemed fitting for Valentine’s! For the place settings, we actually pulled some plates from our Easter collection. The pink gingham went so well with the paper and it gave a cute kitchen/baking feel to the tables. We paired them with die cut heart napkins and heart cups.  For the backdrop, we used the gorgeous new backdrop I had local maker, Liv from Liv+Work, create. I love the dyed pink ombré look!

Mini cupcakes worked perfectly because they gave the children multiple to decorate, and if they ate them, at east they were small! Cara, owner of September Moon Cupcakery, made pink and white cupcakes and provided bags of icing. We picked up some fun sprinkles that they could top them off with. Dessert decorating is always a kid favorite!

In addition to the cupcakes, we provided Valentine making supplies. I love setting out all kinds of craft supplies and seeing what children create. They had fun and were able to make cute cards, drawings and scribbles for their loved ones.

It was such a fun morning, and I always love working with Sally! Thank you for providing the aprons and capturing the memories.

Lots of Love,
