Swan Lake Ballerina Birthday

When a good girl boss friend reaches out needing help with her daughter's birthday party, you make ballerina dreams come true! I was so excited to work on a party for Angela's daughter, Addie. She has so much spunk and loves anything girly. She has been taking dance classes, and her mom mentioned she would love a ballet themed party. I found some adorable invitations through the shop and we got to work.

Ever since we got in the gorgeous iridescent swan plates, I've been eager to throw a Swan Lake themed party. This was just the occasion! I mixed the die cut swan plates with adorable printed swan plates. I kept the napkin simple with the cute blink eyes. I cut up the swan garland we have to run down the center of the tables on top of confetti. Very light and elegant, but fun with the confetti and pops of pink.

For the backdrop, we went all out pink hanging up the beautifully ombre dyed canvas that Liv + Work made for us last year. Pretty ballerina balloons danced next to the dessert table, which helped delicious treats by shop favorite, September Moon Cupcakery. The remaining swan garland went along the table, and Angela brought the adorable Swan Lake book she had ordered for Addie.

The most magical part of the party, was the wonderful appearance from a couple ballerinas in the Ballet Wichita company. Every time we host the ballerinas at our shop, they are always so sweet and interactive with the littles. This time was no exception, and their beautiful costumes matched the party so well. Definitely snag your tickets to this year's Nutcracker to see them perform!

For the party craft and favor, I ordered in supplies for the girls to decorate tutus and bows, and boys super hero capes. We set the supplies on the tables and tutus on the backs of the chairs. Rhinestone stickers made for easy, mess free decorating. Plus, what little girl doesn't like a little sparkle! The super hero capes I ordered came with everything they needed, including the stickers. They both seemed to be a hit!

It was so fun finally getting to execute a theme I had been thinking up, and celebrating a little I have known since her birth - cannot believe she is four!

Interested in throwing a fun party at the shop? Reach out! We would love to help you.

Ballet Wichita - Artistic Director Welcome Party

As you have noticed with some of our past shop events, Ballet Wichita is a local organization that we love working with. I am actually on the board, and when the board decided to throw a small welcome party for our new artistic director, Alex, I jumped on the planning committee. We wanted it to be an exciting event for Alex, the board, and donors. I worked with a talented group of ladies, and we pulled off a fun backyard soiree.

Since it was a ballet event, the committee decided to go with a ballet pink look. We ordered the invitations through the shop from minted and they ordered pink table cloths with coordinating pink tone flowers. Beards Floral Design did an amazing job. The arrangements added a touch of elegance with a twist. Definitely had a wow effect on the tables. In the trees, for a fun ballet touch, they hung old pointe shoes that were donated for decoration.

My main contribution, that I was excited to pull in the shop for, was the balloon install. We wanted to create a large statement balloon garland, and then do a small one at the entrance. Since Alex wanted to offset the pink a little bit, I decided to pull some color inspiration from napkins that we carry in the shop. I loved the nude balloons to bring out the true ballet shoe look. The backyard was incredible, and we were so excited to dress up part of it with some fun balloons.

Overall the evening was a success and we had a great time mingling in a beautiful yard. Alex and our new backdrop painter, Michael Downs, did a great job introducing themselves and their visions. We were so excited to celebrate them and introduce them to our community.

Majority of the photos thanks to Steve Pierce - thank you!

Fairy Garden Party with Ballet Wichita

Earlier in the summer, we threw our annual fairy party, and this time we brought in Ballet Wichita for entertainment! We hosted two events that morning, and children were busy with activities and watching beautiful performances by the ballerina fairies. We wanted it to be a fun, magical morning for the guests, and we have so many pretty new supplies that we were able to use.

For the tableware, we did a mix of fairies and florals. We currently have a great selection! The daisy plates are fun to match with the leaf napkins, and the toadstools are just adorable. To add a settle touch of color under the fairy garden containers, we used floral wrapping paper sheets.

Each party guest at our fairy parties received a pair of fairy wings or a gnome hat. For their activity, everyone made a little take home fairy garden. Each garden had a house for the kids to decorate with stickers, and a flower, plus we set out of lots of little accessories. I love that the containers have handles, so they can easily bring their new mini gardens home. Material sources below...

Wonderful local bakers, September Moon Cupcakery and Sweet Sugarlicious, made beautiful treats. Wendi made cookie wands - such a fun way to incorporate a dessert and accessory! Cara whipped up some white and strawberry cupcakes. We used the fairy cupcake kit at the shop to decorate. Of course both were completely eaten up and enjoyed!

Ballet Wichita did a beautiful job with their performances. It is always so fun to see all the littles in awe of what these ballerinas can do. Each ballerina danced out a lovely fairy dance, and afterwards, they mingled with the little party guests. They are always so wonderful with the children, and allow them to talk about their dance classes, show off their moves, and snap some pictures. Plus, their costumes are always sparkly and gorgeous! For the backdrop, we wanting something fun and bright to add a magical element to the space. Shop girl, Helena, did a beautiful job making paper flowers using the floral wrapping paper as inspiration.

As a fun touch, we brought in a Just Face It! face painter. I truly cannot recommend them enough! They are fast and do incredible work. Every child that walked away had an amazing design! Plus,  little kids absolutely LOVE to get their face painted. It is always a crowd favorite when we are able to bring them in.

It was such a fun event again this year! Fairies seem to be a timeless favorite, and make for a fun party theme. Definitely recommend for a theme, and we are happy to make a magic fairyland come to life for your child's next birthday!
