With all the different showers hosted at the shop, it is always fun to see what the themes the hosts come up with. This past weekend, there was a hot air balloon shower and it ended up coming together so well! The hostess in charge of pulling the decor together had a vision and wanted it to be a special event for her friend traveling back from NYC who is expecting a girl.
Outside, it ended up being rainy with a looming "ice storm," but the decor inside was definitely light and pretty to brighten up the day. Jessica, the hostess who pulled together the theme, had me order in the pink striped plates with scallop edges. They worked perfectly for her hot air balloon look and added a whimsical element. Paired with the mint striped napkins and the place mats, the tables had the perfect pop of light colors. To incorporate the theme further, Jessica ordered in custom plastic cups and "Advice for the Mommy-to-be" cards. I liked that she mixed patterns, colors and had small pops of hot air balloons throughout.
Decor wise, she kept the colors light with balloons, flowers and an adorable diaper cake. We ordered in letter balloons to spell out the baby name, Ava, and on the opposite side, Jessica put together an "Up" style hot air balloon made with lots of regular balloons. Wanting people to mingle, they decided to setup the tables in a U shape, which faced the "AVA" balloons. They also incorporated the mother and father to be baby pictures on one wall - fun for guests to look at before the baby arrives! Food wise, they had appetizers, desserts and drinks. Appetizers were mainly finger foods, making it easy for the guests to enjoy. The dessert options incorporated the hot air balloon theme and Jessica dressed up the table with a diaper cake and clouds.
Overall the shower was a success and it sounded like everyone had a fun afternoon! It was a nice distraction from the bad weather and definitely brightened up the day. Jessica was wonderful to work with and I could tell she and the other girls were truly excited for their mom-to-be friend. Another successful baby shower in the books!
Lots of Love,
