Last weekend, there were multiple events at the shop and each had their own fun flair! Thought I would start your Friday morning off with the thoughts of donuts...craving them now? The party was for a cute ten year old, Ella, who must love donuts because we definitely went all out with the theme. We had everything from donut plates to balloons to actual delicious donuts.
To start off the party, the party girls sprinkled up their donut balloons with washi tape. They had a lot of fun and it was an easy to do party craft. The balloons also made for great decoration, especially after the sprinkles added a pops of color.
Next the girls did some major donut decorating. This mom and dad thought of every possible topping a ten year old could want on their donut. They purchased donuts from Flying Donuts and made their own icings. For the icing dipping, they put the icing in bowls with an opening wide enough for the donuts. that way the girls could easily cover the tops of their donuts without making too much of a mess. Then they got to work covering them with way too many toppings.
They finished off their day with a family friend photographer coming to take pictures. To tie in the theme, I added colorful sprinkles onto the photo backdrop. Fun and easy way to add color to your pictures. I actually used the scraps I had from another project. To make from scratch, however, just get some card stock in your desired colors and use a paper slicer to get clean edges. Ella's mom also brought large frames for the girls to hold up. I also loved the donut glasses she made for the girls to wear, and they definitely had fun with them in their photo shoot.
Overall it was a great party! The girls had fun and I remembered how entertaining a group of 4th graders could be. It would go from silent one moment to giggling and loud the next. Plus, who doesn't love donuts! Ok I'm now officially craving one...
